TRAVERSING LA QUINTA

Traversing La Quinta – 2 Lens Arsenal

Hi and hello! If we haven’t met yet, I’m David Cruz, a photographer, creative, and someone who loves finding ways to make the world look just a little more appealing (hopefully even beautiful).

For the month of June, I set out to roam the jewel of the desert, La Quinta, California. My mission? Capture its sights, textures, and hidden corners through the lens while traversing the Cove. And honestly? It was a blast.

I’d say about 75% of those shots were taken from inside my car, sometimes parked, sometimes rolling, because, let’s face it… June in the valley is hot. If you’re from here, you know. There were plenty of moments where I just couldn’t convince myself to get out into that sun. But hey, creativity works from the driver’s seat too…

“So I was rolling with my trusty Canon EOS RP.”

Its lightweight enough to keep things comfortable, and my go-to arsenal: a 50mm and a 100–400mm, with manual mode locked on toggle. At times, I wondered what people must’ve thought seeing a dark-tinted car slow down, window lowering, camera coming out… probably not the best look out of context. The phrase “I’m gonna shoot you” came to mind, funny, but also, yeah… not funny.

La Quinta really does have some gems worth capturing. Some of my favorites are now up here on my photographer’s blog. I run a small photography business, so my camera is basically an extra limb, I never know when something will catch my eye. Living in this tucked-away little cove of the Coachella Valley means inspiration is never far.

After pulling all the shots together, I felt happy, grateful, and maybe even inspired to try the same approach in other valley cities.

Enjoy the photos and we’ll talk soon.

Bye for now
